Zachary A. Kollar, 26, of Ashley, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2021. To meet him was to love him. His laughter, smile, and kind heart are just a few of Zach’s amazing attributes.
Zach, son of Jennifer Ferro of Ashley was born in Wilkes-Barre; graduated from Hanover Area High School, Class of 2013 and Penn State Technical College, where he earned his Associate Degree in HVAC/Plumbing. Upon graduation, Zach proudly began working in this field. He was a member of St. Leo’s/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley.
Zachary was a young man that had the kindest heart and love of life. No words can express the profound sorrow that his family and friends are experiencing at this time. Although his life was cut short, he still managed to touch so many hearts and lives with his presence. Whether it was an hour, a day, a year, or a lifetime, Zach had an uncanny ability to leave a lasting impression on anyone who crossed his path. The world lost a shining star and heaven gained an MVP.
At an early age, Zach developed a love of sports, particularly baseball. He spent his childhood dreaming of the big leagues and developing that passion. As a child, he spent countless hours playing catch with his Pop and knee football with his Gram. Zach joined his first team at the age of four. He continued playing sports throughout both Elementary and High School. Although he had a passion for many sports, his heart belonged to baseball, and Kollzy continued to play in college. Most recently, he was a teammate and “coach” for his softball team. When he wasn’t found on the baseball diamond, you could find him on the greens enjoying a game of golf with his best friends. He was an avid Pittsburgh Pirates; Pittsburgh Penguins and LA Rams Fan, but his biggest love was following and bragging about his sister, Jenessa’s, soccer journey.
Zachary will be missed beyond words by his family. He is survived by his mother, Jennifer Ferro, and sister, Jenessa (Nes) Ferro; maternal grandparents, Dominick (his Pop and best friend) and Dorothy (Gram) Ferro of Ashley; aunt, Raphael Ferro (Rie); aunt/uncle, Michele and Jason Polney (M & J) and countless best friends that were his brothers.
Funeral has been entrusted to the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre, for a funeral service on Thursday, April 28 at 9:00 am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 am in St. Leo’s/Holy Rosary Church, 33 Manhattan St. Ashley with Reverend Vincent Dang officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 from 4:00pm-7:00pm and Thursday 8:00am-9:00am at the funeral home.
Twenty-six years of your beautiful smile will never be enough. You changed the world from the moment you were born and this world will never be the same without you in it. The void that your passing has created in our lives will never be filled. The universe will always be a little less bright, but we will feel the warmth of your smile as the sun shines down on us. We will all miss you not only every day, but every hour, minute, and second of our lives.
In honor of Zachary, please wear your favorite baseball hat and continue to spread kindness and love in his memory.
“Destiny has no room for doubt.”
