VICTORIA GILROY SHEEHAN

Victoria Louise Gilroy Sheehan, 76, of Ashley, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on December 24, 1948, Victoria was the daughter of the late John “Red” E. Gilroy and Victoria Gilroy. She was a proud graduate of St. Leo’s High School and continued her education at Carbondale Nursing School, where she cultivated the compassion and skill that would define her life’s work.

Victoria dedicated her career to caring for others as a registered nurse at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York. Her gentle presence, professionalism, and unwavering dedication touched countless lives, bringing comfort and dignity to those facing their most difficult moments.

A longtime member of St. Leo’s Church, Victoria lived her faith quietly and sincerely. She enjoyed spending her time reading, especially mysteries and biographies, and she was an enthusiastic Notre Dame football fan who never missed a game.

Victoria is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Dennis Sheehan, as well as nieces and nephews, Maurie Tuzinski, Karine Connelly, Michael Connelly, John Connelly and Patrick Connelly, who adored her warmth, humor, and generous spirit. She is also survived by many friends, especially her longtime best friend, who shared many memories together since grade school, Sharon Pearson.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Mary Celestine Huey and Deborah Petrozelli. 

Victoria will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and selfless devotion to her family, patients, and all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of compassion will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.

Blessing service will be conducted on Monday, December 8, 2025 in St. Mary's Cemetery Chapel, Hanover Township at 1:30 pm with Reverend Vincent Dang officiating. Friends are asked to go directly to the chapel.

Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation from 1 to 2 pm on Sunday, December 7, 2025 at the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle St. Wilkes-Barre.
