Sylvia Travis, 85, of Mountain Top, formerly of Ashley, died on Sunday, November 20, 2022 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Dominic and Sarah Golubiewski DePolo and was a graduate of Coughlin High School. Sylvia was employed as a LPN at the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital and was a member of St. Jude's Church and former member of St. Leo the Great Church. She was very active in the community, coaching girls softball for Ashley/Hanover Township for 20 years; was a former Ashley borough committee woman and bowled for St. Leos Bowling League.
In addition to her parents, Sylvia was preceded in death by her husband John "Jack" Travis; sons, Mark, John, Bruce and Brian Travis; granddaughter, Abigail Travis.
She is survived by her son, Gary Travis of Richmond, VA; daughter, Lisa Travis Hooper and her husband, Robert of Cape Coral, FL; daughter in law, Teresa Travis of Mountain Top; granddaughters, Sarah Travis, Erin Harris of Atlanta, GA; grandsons, Mark and Joseph Travis of Mountain Top; siblings, Dominick DePolo of Bear Creek; Christine DePolo of Lipski, FL; Phyllis DePolo of Plains; four great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 9:45 am from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre with a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top. at 10:30 am.
Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation on Thursday, December 1, 2022 from 3 to 5 pm and Friday morning from 9:15 am until time of service.
