RICHARD PELAK

Richard M. Pelak, 73, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was a graduate of Kings College where he earned his BA in Political Science. Rick had a successful 30 year career in advertising at organizations such as The Wall St Journal, Gannett Publishing, and most notably the Sunday Independent. He had a passion for current events, Swedish and German cars, craft beer, and spending time with his family. 

A devoted father and friend, he was always ready to lend a hand or throw the baseball around the back yard. Rick fought a years-long battle with cancer, faced his challenges head-on, and was surrounded by family and friends in his final days. 

Left to cherish his memory, is his loving wife, Barbara Gizara Pelak; daughter, Richele Keas and granddaughter, Katrina Keas of Stafford, VA; sons, Matthew Pelak of Brooklyn, NY; Adam Pelak and his wife Dr. Kelly Lutz of West Chester, PA; sister, Kathy Abramson of Radnor, PA and brother-in-law, Paul Gizara of Drums, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents Peter and Helen Ores Pelak, and brothers-in-law Joseph Gizara and Irving Abramson. 

Private family services will be held.
