NANCY ANDRES Obituary

Nancy Lee Andres, of White Haven, died Saturday, March 10, 2018 in Celtic Hospice In Patient Unit, Wilkes-Barre.
 
Born in Langhorn, she was the daughter of the late Daniel and Mary Erig Akers and was a graduate of White Haven High School, Class of 1945. She was a member of the White Haven Alumni Association where she served as secretary/treasure of the Reunion Committee. Nancy was a very devoted member of St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, where she was a member and soloist of the church choir member since 1942; served on the worship and music committees; was a former Sunday School teacher; held positions of vice president and recording secretary on church council and treasurer of the church, a position she held for 10 years. 
 
She was very active in the community and was an appointed member of the former Central Luzerne County Jointure (now Crestwood School District) School Board. She was past president of White Haven/Dennison PTA, a former member of Crestwood PTA and band parents Association. Nancy was a member of the White Haven Senior Citizens Choir, White Haven Zoning Hearing Board, serving as chairperson and volunteered at White Haven Ministerial sponsored Food Pantry. She was also a member of Lutheran Northeast Services Auxiliary and served on the board of White Haven Area Community Library, was treasurer since 2000 and chairperson of organizations/collection committee.
 
She retired in 1990 from Mt. Laurel Inn and Resort, as payroll clerk where she was employed for 19 years. Prior to Mt. Laurel, she was employed by the former Acme Markets in both White Haven and Mountain Top and was quality control for Tung-Sol Electric, Weatherly.
 
In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death, by husband, William Andres; by stepfather, Charles Becker, Sr; step sister, Charlotte Ackerman; Wilhelmina Avila; stepbrothers, Frank Becker and Charles Becker, Jr.
 
She is survived by her daughters, Lee Mary Hallock and her husband, Joseph of White Haven; Deborah Jo Murphy of White Haven; Sheri Lynn Rush, Reading; grandchildren, Jamie Searfoss and his wife, Heather; Erin Leigh Murphy; Michael Murphy; Jacey Lynn Hallock; Tucker Rush; great grandchildren, Alex Hackler and Sophia Searfoss,
 
Funeral service will conducted on Thursday, March 15, 2018, at 11:00 am in St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 418 Berwick St. White Haven. with Pastor Michele Kaufman officiating. Interment will be in Laurel Cemetery, White Haven.
 
Friends and family are invited to visit on Wednesday, March 14, 2018 from 5 to 8 pm at the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 403 Berwick St. White Haven and on Thursday morning, from 10:30 am until time of service at the church.
