Martin A. McDonald

Marty McDonald, 65, of Ashley, passed away on June 10, 2026. He was born on May 29, 1961, in Wilkes-Barre, the beloved son of John J. McDonald and Viola Duddy McDonald.

Marty graduated from Hanover Area High School, Class of 1980, and was a hard worker until his retirement from FedEx in April, 2025. He cherished spending time with his family, friends and especially loved spoiling his grandchildren. When not with his family he could be found rooting on the Eagles or Penn State football. 

An active and devoted member of his community, Marty contributed through out the years to the Ashley/Newtown Little League, Ashley Lions Club, Ashley Memorial Day Parade Association, Ashley Borough Council, Preston Hose Company, and was a proud member of the Ashley American Legion. 

Marty was preceded in death by his father John J. McDonald, his brother Jack McDonald, and his stepfather George Krisanda. He is survived by the love of his life, his bride Gerri McDonald; his son Patrick McDonald of Mountain Top; his daughter Meghan McDonald of Ashley; and his cherished grandchildren, Bailey, Finley, Edalyn, and Rowan. He also leaves behind his mother, Viola Krisanda of Ft Lauderdale; siblings, Colleen Williams of Mechanicsburg, Eileen Padden of Nanticoke, and G.L. Krisanda of Glen Lyon, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to say a special thanks to Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassion and care provided. 

A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc., 689 Hazle Avenue, Wilkes-Barre, with Reverend Vincent Dang officiating. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM until the time of service.

Marty’s quick wit, commitment to his community, and dedication to his family will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
