Michael John Eckrote, Sr., 39, died on Sunday, February 7, 2021, following an epileptic seizure, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Born in Kingston, he was the son of John and Michele Romanowski Eckrote, of Nanticoke and was a graduate of Greater Nanticoke High School, Class of 2000. He worked for True Value; was an avid Dallas Cowboys Fan and enjoyed drinking beer and watching NASCAR with his family.
Mike will be remembered as a hero to his family and friends for his selflessness in donating to The Gift of Life.
His greatest enjoyment in his life was his son, Michael. Mike’s son was his world, his best friend, and his partner in crime. Together they enjoyed exploring nature by going on hikes, riding the quad together, cooking and so much more. Where one was the other wasn’t far behind.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Virginia Josefowicz; maternal grandfather, Charles Romanowski, paternal grandfather, John Eckrote.
Left to cherish his memory, in addition to his parents, is his son, Michael John Eckrote, Jr.; sisters, Amy Brennan and husband, Josh of Larksville; Elizabeth Pohlig and husband, Stephen of Old Forge; paternal grandmother, Gloria Eckrote of Nanticoke; maternal grandmother, Frances Romanowski of Mountain Top; niece and nephews Avery, Henry and Elliot; and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A Private Family Memorial Service will be held at the convenience of the family from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre.
