MAUREEN RICHARDS Obituary

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Maureen Richards on  Monday April 22, 2024, in Syracuse, NY.. Born on February 21, 1936, in Wilkes Barre, PA., Maureen’s vibrant spirit and loving nature touched all who had the privilege of knowing her during her remarkable 88 years of life.

 

All knew Maureen as a loving, kind, and hospitable woman. As a registered nurse, working at St. Joseph's Hospital in E. Syracuse, Maureen was dedicated caring for the sick. Maureen’s  life was a testament to the power of resilience, the importance of family, and the depth of her faith. She faced life's challenges with grace and emerged with a spirit of thankfulness and joy that was infectious to all who knew her.

 

Preceding her in death was her devoted husband, Milton, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and memories; parents John P. and Florence McNulty Butler Sr.; sisters Kay Lewandoski, Margaret Hannon, Betty Missal and brother in laws Joseph Lewandoski and James Hannon.

 

Maureen leaves behind a legacy of warmth and love through her family: her sons, Jerry and Milton Richards and their wives-Linda and Amy; her brother John Butler and his wife Alma; sister Jeanie Stull and her husband Tom; her cherished grandchildren, Christie, Jeff, Milton, Amanda, Megan and great great grandchildren, Addalyne, Asher, Alden, Westley, Rose, Jim and Vivian; brother in law Ron Missal; many nieces and nephews.

 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, April 29, 2024 in St. Leo the Great Church, 33 Manhattan Street, Ashley with Reverend Vincent Dang officiating.  Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.

 

Friends are invited to join the family from 9:30 am until time of Mass at the church.

 

Following the interment a reception at R&D Memories, Fellows Ave. Hanover Township will be held to share memories of Maureen's beautiful life.

 

Arrangements under the direction of the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. Wilkes-Barre.
