Matthew P. Jones Jr., of Wilkes-Barre, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones. He was born in Wilkes-Barre on December 20, 1946, to the late Matthew P. Jones Sr. and Alice Griswold Jones.
Matthew proudly served his country in the United States Army as a medic, a role through which he demonstrated his lifelong dedication to helping others. Following his military service, he worked as an X-ray technician for 17 years.
In his younger years, Matthew enjoyed fishing and could often be found working on projects around the house or lending a helping hand to anyone in need. A talented carpenter and woodworker, he took great pride in his craftsmanship and was known for his energy and drive—never one to sit still for long. Above all, he was deeply family-oriented and cherished the time spent with those he loved.
Matthew is survived by his devoted wife, Dominique Jallon Jones; daughter-in-law Linda Jones; grandson Matthew III; great-grandsons Tyler, Cameron, Liam, and Mason; three sisters, Roseanne Jones, Alice Zaikoski, and Mary Gibbon; and brother Mark Jones.
In addition to his parents, Matthew was preceded in death by his beloved son Patrick Jones and granddaughter Sarah.
Private services and interment will be held at the convenience of the family.
Matthew will be remembered for his strong work ethic, kind heart, and unwavering love for his family—a man who truly made life brighter for those around him.
