Mary Pat Curry, 79, of Newtown section of Hanover Township, passed away suddenly in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township, with family by her side, on Friday, October 14, 2022.
Born in the family home in Ashley, she was the daughter of the late John Curry, Kathryn Flynn Curry Morris and stepdaughter to the late Joseph Morris. Mary Pat was a graduate of St. Leo's High School, Class of 1960, and earned her bachelor's degree from Kings College. She worked for Northeast Counseling in Nanticoke as a geriatric counselor, prior to retirement and was a member of St. Leo the Great Church, Ashley. She enjoyed playing cards and Bingo with friends, watching movies and an occasional trip to the casinos. Mary Pat was a lifelong Notre Dame Fan; was very proud of her Irish Heritage and traveled extensively.
In addition to her parents and stepfather, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph John Marzzucca in 2016.
Left to cherish her memory is her brother, John Patrick Curry and his wife, Kathy of Chalfont, PA; niece Debbie Carpino and her husband, Mike of Chalfont; great nephew, Anthony Carpino, many cousins and lifelong friends.
Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 10:30 am from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am in St. Leo the Great Church, 33 Manhattan Street, Ashley. Reverend Vincent Dang will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation from 9:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
