Mary Jo Murphy, of Brown St. Wilkes-Barre and formerly of Kingston, died on Wednesday, December 14, 2022 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Born in Pittston on September 25, 1942, she was the daughter of the late William J. and Mary L. Soltysiak McAndrew. She was a graduate of West Side Central Catholic High School, Class of 1960. She was employed by the City of Wilkes-Barre Industrial Development Authority and the Wilkes-Barre Economic Development Corporation and previously by the U. S. Department of the Army at the Tobyhanna Army Depot and the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Food and Nutrition Service.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James T. Murphy Jr. on June 11, 2018 and brother, William J. McAndrew Jr. on December 5, 1982.
She is survived by children Michael Murphy, Kevin Murphy, Mary Ellen Murphy Jones and her husband, John; granddaughter, Michaela and granddaughter and Goddaughter, Erin; sisters, Ellen Ann Zapotok and Barbara Kasask and extended family, especially Gerald Pogzeba.
Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, December, 20, 2022 at 9:00 am from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre with a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 in St. Leo the Great Church, 33 Manhattan Street, Ashley.
Friends are invited to join the family on Monday, December 19, 2022 from 5 to 7 pm and on Tuesday morning, from 8:45 am until time of service.
