Joanne Capinas

Joanne Capinas, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Monday, September 6, 2021, at home with family by her side.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Catherine M. Strome Payne and worked for Leslie Fay as a dress maker and Wegmans in the bakery department. She enjoyed baking, sewing, cooking; attended E.L. Meyer High School and was a member of St. Aloysius church, Wilkes-Barre. She loved spending time with family, playing Bingo and sneaking bacon home to her beloved (late) dog, Smokey.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Linda Wilson.

She is survived by her loving husband, Thomas Capinas, children, Cherie Saprano of Las Vegas; Tracey Sisko of Mountain Top; Thomas A. (Tracey) Capinas of Sweet Valley; grandchildren, Jillian, CJ, Nicholas, Zachary, Thomas, Charles and Hope; siblings, Raymond (Marilyn) Payne, San Diego; Patricia Visneski of Noxen; Mary Kay (Bill) Burger of Mountain Top; nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be conducted on Saturday, September 11, 2021, 6:00 pm from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle St, Wilkes-Barre, PA 18702 with a visitation from 4:00 pm until time of service.
