JoAnn Jenkins Obituary

JoAnn Therese Jenkins, 67, passed away Saturday, September 10, 2022 at Mountain Top Healthcare.

JoAnn was born in Teaneck, NJ on May 16, 1955, the daughter of the late Joseph and Regina McEvoy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by brothers-in-law Commander Thomas J. Neville Jr. USN (ret) and Robert J. Bertram Jr. JoAnn graduated from Bishop Hoban High School, Wilkes-Barre, PA, attended St. Thomas Aquinas College, Sparkill, New York, and King’s College, Wilkes-Barre, PA.

She worked as a nurse’s aide in Wilkes-Barre and graduated with an LPN from Wilkes-Barre Area Career and Technical School of Nursing. She worked as an LPN in various positions and as a substance abuse nurse in Kingston, PA. She was well known for her compassion and sense of humor with her patients and co-workers, as well as her generous spirit with her family and friends.

She is survived by sons, Joseph Jenkins and his significant other, Desarae Shaffer; and Kevin Jones; grandchildren, Joseph Jenkins Jr., Grace Jenkins and Carson Jones; sisters’, Rita Taylor and her husband, Captain Malcolm Taylor, Jr. USN (ret); and Jean Marie Bertram; nieces and nephews, Jacquie Amacher, and her husband Doug; Captain Thomas Neville USN, and his wife Tara; Kristen McCarrick, and her husband Robert; Tara Marsh and her husband Brian; Christopher Bertram and his significant other Christina Lee; John Bertram and his fiancé’ Carissa Patts; as well as numerous great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

A private memorial service will be held at a future date, entrusted to Lehman Family Funeral Home, Hazle St. Wilkes-Barre.
