John “Jack” Corrigan, 92, of Hanover Green, passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2025 after a brief stay at the General Hospital and at the Embassy of Wyoming Valley, a memory care facility. We thank them for their wonderful care. Jack fought a ten year courageous battle with dementia.
He was born April 15, 1932 in Wilkes-Barre to the late Myrtle Buckman Corrigan, Wilkes-Barre and the late Patrick Corrigan, Parsons. Jack attended Wilkes-Barre schools and spent two years in the Army stationed in Orleans, France. Upon returning home, he was employed at Marvin Florist, Muskin Pools, Threads Inc and Royer Foundry, where he retired at age 67 years.
From early spring to late summer, Jack could be found in his garden planting and then enjoying the harvest which he shared with family, friends and neighbors. Otherwise, in cooler weather, he could be found in his garage polishing his truck and antique car.
Jack was predeceased by his cherished sister, Peggy Griffiths, many loving aunts, uncles in the Buckman family, who helped raise Jack and his sister. Also special cousins, nieces and nephews.
Left to love and cherish his memory are his wife of 68 years, Nancie (Daney) Corrigan; his daughters Beth (Mike) Verazin of Nanticoke, Kathleen (Wayne) Drager of Shickshinny, his son Jack (Amy) Corrigan of Missouri; grandchildren, Brad (Kim) Verazin and their daughter Riley; Ryan (Beth) Verazin and their daughter and son Haley and Ian and Cara (Dr. Ryan) Rogers and their daughters Emily and Ellie.
Our families mutual love and respect made Jack's journey rewarding.
As per his wishes the funeral was private and under the direction of the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. Wilkes-Barre
May the road rise to meet you,
May the wind be at your back,
We will hold you in our hearts,
Until we meet again.
