Joan M. Latzko, 89, of Wilkes-Barre, passed away on Sunday, September 29, 2024 in the Meadows Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dallas, Pa.
Born on March 12, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Emory Dedalis and the former Margaret Metro. Joan was a longtime member of St. Leo the Great Church, Ashley, where she was active in the Altar and Rosary Society. She was a graduate of Wilkes-Barre Township High School, class of 1953. Joan worked in several factories and in the bakery departments of Insalaco’s & Wegmans. She also worked in Child Care. She enjoyed spending time with her family, traveling extensively, reading, and going on long walks when she was able.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Paul A. Latzko in 2017 and brother, Emory Dedalis.
Surviving are her son, Dr. Paul J. Latzko and his wife, Louise, Dallas; daughter, Karen Ritter and her husband, Mike, Maryland; 5 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren and sister, Patricia Bailey Sullivan and her husband, Ellis, California.
Funeral service will be conducted on Monday, October 7, 2024 at 9:30 am from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am in St. Leo the Great Church, 33 Manhattan Street, Ashley with her pastor Reverend Vincent Dang officiating. Interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Hanover Township.
Relatives and friends are invited to join the family from 4 to 6 pm on Sunday, October 6, 2024 and Monday morning from 9:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.
