Jane Coyle Smith, 85, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2021 after a lengthy illness.
Jane was born in Ashley, she was the daughter of John B.Coyle and Catherine C. Coyle. She was a graduate of St. Leo's High School. After marrying in 1960 to John Edward Smith and having three children, Jane chose to take the "Road Less Traveled." In the 70's most mothers became housewives and she was, but Jane had higher aspirations. Once she felt her family secure, Jane initiated her English teaching career at College Misericordia where she graduated with honors earning a BA in English. Jane also received an award for Who's Who in America.
Jane was first employed with the Dallas School District and then the Lake Lehman School District while earning her masters degree at Wilkes. Upon her retirement she continued to teach at the college level both at Penn State, Lehman campus and College Misericordia.
Once fully retired, Jane enjoyed travelling. Her favorite trip was when she retraced her roots and visited Ireland. Jane's additional interests included swimming, gardening, reading and of course spending time with family and friends. One of her greatest joys were her dogs, always having one at her side throughout her life.
In addition to Jane's parents, she was preceded in death by her husband John E. Smith, 2001 and sister Marlene H. Coyle 2012.
Surviving are her sons Coyle Smith and companion Mary Lawler, Dallas; James Smith and wife Laura, Centermoreland and Michael Smith, Dallas. Also surviving are sisters Mary Ann Moore and husband Malcolm Biedekapp, Gulf Shores AL. and Kathy Achorn and husband Peter J., Doylestown.
