James I. Slusser, Jr. 68, of Hanover Township, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, February 24, 2021 after an unexpected brief illness in the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Township.
Born in Elmira, NY, on September 20, 1952, he was the son of the late James and Helen Jones Slusser, Sr. Jim was a graduate of Hanover Area High School Class of 1970. He worked for many years at Luzerne Optical. One of the highlights of his life was watching his children and grandchildren play sports. James was an avid Eagles, Phillies, and Penn State fan.
In addition to his loving wife of 45 years, Molly, he is survived by sons Christopher (Laurie) Slusser; Hanover Township, Shawn (Patricia) Slusser; Pittston, and his daughter Tara Slusser; Hanover Township; sisters Sharon Dorris, Cynthia (Vance) Jenkins, Elaine Draus, brother Robert (Meg) Slusser. He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren: Christopher, Kasidy, Mia, and Mason Slusser and his great grandson Christopher Slusser; numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send a sincere thank you to the doctors and nurses in the ICU at Geisinger for taking care of Jim during this difficult time.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, March 4, 2021 at 7:00 pm from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre.
Friends are invited to join the family from 4:30 pm until time of service at the funeral home.
