JAMES DUDDY Obituary

James J. Duddy, of Wilkes-Barre, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, in Mountain View Care and Rehab, Scranton.   He was surrounded by his loving wife,  daughter, and Mountain View staff members.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late James and Josephine J. Mondulick Duddy and was a graduate of GAR High School. He served his country proudly throughout his lifetime.  First in the United States Marines and then retiring from the United States Air Force.

While serving in the U.S. Marines, he was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal w/1*, Vietnam Campaign Medal w/"60" device, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry w/palm and Rifle Marksman Badge.

While serving in the U.S. Air Force he was the recipient of the AF Commendation Medal; AF Achievement Medal w/1 device; AF Outstanding Unit Award w/4 devices; Navy Unit Commendation; Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation; Combat Readiness Medal w/2 devices; AF Good Conduct Medal w/4 devices; Navy Good Conduct Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal w/2 devices; AF Overseas Short Tour Ribbon w/1 device; AF Overseas Long Tour Ribbon; AF Longevity Service Award Ribbon w/4 devices; NCO Professional Military Educ Grad Ribbon w/1 device; Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon; AF Training Ribbon; Foreign Decoration Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Device; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal. 

Jim enjoyed spending time with family and friends in his beloved backyard. He also enjoyed working on cars, talking to people on his CB radio, watching Nascar, and Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Patricia Sosnak.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 50 years, Frances Mazzarella; daughter, Lori Duddy; stepson, Joseph McKeon and wife Kirsten of New York; sister, Nancy Palmer and husband Sid of Montana; brother, Michael Duddy and wife Susy of New Jersey, grandchildren, and several multi-generational nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be conducted on Friday, April 14, 2023 at 10:00 am from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre with Military Honors and Interment in Maple Hill Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 4 to 6 pm and on Friday from 9:30 am until time of service.
