Herman E. Haas, most recently of Allentown, former resident of White Haven, died on Thursday, January 4, 2024 in Lehigh Valley Medical Center, Allentown.
Born in Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late George and Eleanor Meier Haas retired from Boscov's Department Store, Hazleton as a Dock Security officer. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, White Haven, where he had served previously served on Council and was a member of the Church's Choir for many years. He also enjoyed assisting with the community lunches at the church. Herman was a 20 year member of the Laurel Lodge No. 467 Free and Accepted Masons, White Haven, the International Order of Odd Fellows, White Haven and the Irem Shriners.
Herman was a classic car enthusiast, loved trains, fishing, listening to oldies music and watching Penn State Football. He also enjoyed spending time with family and over the past several years, had great times visiting his 'second family,' his friends at Cetronia Fire Co. #1 Social Hall, Allentown.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of almost 53 years, Marie M. Fairchild Haas and sister Alice Serafin.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Virginia Haas of Allentown, with whom he resided, nieces Eleanor Rancont and her husband, Tony, of Freeland, Hope Lynn Martin and her husband Chad of White Haven; great niece and nephew Alison and Matthew Rancont of Freeland and many cousins.
Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at 12:00 pm in St. Pauls Lutheran Church, 414 Berwick Street, White Haven with Pastor Janel Wiggen officiating. Interment will follow in Laurel Cemetery, White Haven.
Friends are invited to join the family on Friday, January 12, 2024 from 5 to 7 pm at the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 403 Berwick Street, White Haven and at the church, Saturday morning from 11:00 am until time of service.
Additionally, a Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be held at a later date at Cetronia Fire Co. No. 1 Social Hall.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be sent to Shriners' Hospital, St. Paul's Lutheran Church White Haven or Cetronia Fire Co. #1 Social Hall, Allentown.
