Harold Richards, 82, of Newtown Section of Hanover Township, died on Friday evening, December 3, 2021 in Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, he was the son of the late Charles and Sarah Oliver and served this country proudly in the National Guard. Harold worked for the Tobyhanna Army Depot prior to retiring; He also retired out of Roadway. He was a member of St. Leo the Great Parish; Newtown #2 Fire Department; Ashley American Legion and Hanover Township Fire Police. For many years he was the Santa for so many children bringing joy to many families. He was assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troops 31 and 33. He served for a few years, as Mr. Peanut for Planters Peanut.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Matthew Morio.
Harold is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Virginia Hoffman Richards; Harold Richards Jr of Hanover Twp; Jennifer Clymo of Bear Creek; Brenda Pish of Exeter; Theodore Richards of Hanover Twp; Eric Richards of Hanover Twp; 5 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren; sister, Lauren DeMaria, Nieces and Nephews.
Blessing service will be conducted on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 1:00 pm from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre, with Reverend Dang officiating. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery.
Friends are invited to join the family for a visitation from 11:00 am on Friday until time of service.
