GEORGE WOOD, JR. Obituary

George I. Wood, Jr. 90, a resident of White Haven, passed away on Saturday, August 8, 2020, at home with family by his side.

 

Born in East Side Borough on, August 15, 1929, he was the son of the late George and Florence Prutzman Wood and was a graduate of White Haven High School. He was a member of White Haven United Methodist Church; a 72 year member of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows; and served on the Weatherly Area Joint School Authority.  George worked as a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service in White Haven and was a member of the National Letter Carriers Association. Being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and was a member of Lehigh Sportsman Association. He loved to travel especially to Lancaster and Western United States.

 

In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers, Harold, Robert and Clyde Wood and sister, Jeanette Zehner.

 

He is survived by his loving wife, of 63 years, Mary Chasar Wood; sons, George Wood and his wife, Renee of Penn Lake; Gary Wood and his wife, Karen of Mountain Top; Todd Wood and his wife, Patricia of White Haven; granddaughter, Megan Rose Kebles Wood and several nieces and nephews.

 

Private funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020  in White Haven United Methodist Church, 900 Buffalo Street, White Haven.  Interment will be in Laurel Cemetery, White Haven.

Memorial donations in memory of George can be sent to the White Haven United Methodist Church.
