Genevieve A. Kastreva, 92, of Harveys Lake and formerly of Ashley, died Wednesday morning, March 28, 2018, in Geisinger Wyoming Valley, with loving family by her side.
Born in Ashley, she was the daughter of the late Andrew and Anna Freedman Krapcha and was a graduate of Ashley High School. Genevieve ran the family business, Kastreva's Cafe, in Ashley for many years and enjoyed spending time with her husband and family. Genevieve and her husband would often be seen on WVIA Channel 44, Saturday evenings, enjoying one of their favorite past times, Pennsylvania Polka and Dancing. In support of the World War II War effort, she worked as a seamstress making clothing for the Military. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, life time member of the Disabled American Veterans, where she devoted much of her time volunteering. She was a former member of Holy Family Church, Sugar Notch and was a member of Our Lady of Victory, Harveys Lake. An avid traveler, she very much enjoyed spending summers at the cottage at Harvey's Lake, at her sons summer home at Seneca Lake and going to Army conventions with her husband.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, were her devoted husband and love of her life, Francis Kastreva; son, Francis “Frank” Kastreva; brothers, Edward and Bernie Krapcha and sisters, Bertha Fedorchak and Ceclia Komaromi.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving family. Son Edward Kastreva and his wife Linda-Harveys Lake. Grandchildren, Edward Kastreva Jr and his wife Elin-Sweden; Frank Kastreva and his wife Patricia-Shunk; Bree Ann Garringer and her companion Mike Evans-Ashley. Great grandchildren Jacob, Justin and Lovis. Daughter-in-law Sharryl Kastreva-Mountain Top; nieces and nephews.
