FLOSSIE JABLOWSKI Obituary

Florence A. Kachurick “Flossie” Jablowski of the Newtown Section of Hanover Township passed away peacefully Sunday, May 24, 2020.

Born on April 19, 1935 in Pringle, Pa, Flossie was the daughter of Joseph (Joe) and Edith Dorang Kachurick. The family moved to Ashley in the late 1940’s.  Flossie served as a proud graduate of the Ashley High School “Rockets” Class of 1954 where she served as Homecoming Queen.

After graduating from Ashley High, Flossie began working as a laborer in the local cigar manufacturing while helping care for her brothers Joseph, Sayreville NJ and the late John (Jack) Kachurick of Dallas, PA.

By the early 1960’s, Flossie graduated from the Empire Beauty Academy and opened Flossie’s Beauty Shoppe on South Main Street in Ashley directly across from the Huber Colliery in 1962.  Her personal concern and compassion for each of her customers was a hallmark of Flossie’s personality.

After she married John Jablowski, Sr. of Wilkes-Barre in 1965, Flossie relocated her Beauty Shoppe to the Newtown Section of Hanover Township where she operated her salon continuously for over 56 years.  She was one of the longest continuing beauticians in Wyoming Valley history operating a hair salon serving thousands of customers for over a half of century.

A devoted parishioner of St. Leo’s/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley; Flossie served in the parish community at numerous bazaars, festivals, committees and special events. Flossie touched so many lives through her limitless devotion to her friends, her faith in God and in her family and extended family.   She was fiercely proud of her Polish heritage and lived her life in faith and service.
