FLORENCE PIETROSKI

Florence Pietroski, 98, of Hickory Hills, White Haven went peacefully to her eternal rest on Monday December 28. Florence was born December 17, 1922 in Wilkes Barre to parents Joseph and Stella Myzick. Florence was preceded in death by her brother Leo Myzick, and her loving husband, Edward Pietroski. 

During World War II, Florence worked in Furnbah’s Factory making silk for parachutes used in the war, a job in which she took great pride. During the 1950’s and 1960’s, she and her husband worked side-by-side running the family bakery, Pet’s Pies, in Lee Park. Throughout her life, she continued to make the most amazing desserts for family and friends, with an overflowing array of cookies every Christmas.

Florence was active in Saint Patrick’s Church, always making sure the altar linens were neatly pressed and the flowers were fresh. She led social groups in her community, including the Women of Saint Patrick’s and Sixty Plus. Always up for adventure, she planned many group trips to destinations like Dollywood and Thousand Islands, two of her favorites. Her social groups also got together to build friendships, celebrate birthdays, and dine out just to share time and stories together. 

Most important to Florence was her ever-growing family. Florence is survived by her children Geraldine Michaleko and Edward Pietroski; her grandchildren Lawrence “Chuck” Michalesko, Rebecca Mehnert, Kristyn Off, Edward Pietroki III, Keri Anne Stortz, Matthew Pietroski and Meredith Baron; and nine great-grandchildren. Florence’s great- grandchildren adoringly call her Babcie. Babcie had a never-ending love for her family and will be dearly missed by all.

Due to COVID-19, a private family Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, January 2, 2021 in St. Patrick’s Church. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.
