Eugene Bukowski Obituary

Gene passed peacefully of natural causes on the afternoon of September 5, 2026, in White Haven, PA where he had relocated after 40 wonderful years in Newtown, PA. Gene was born in Philadelphia and raised in the Fishtown/Port Richmond section of the city. Gene was a proud graduate of North Catholic High School. He attended Villanova University, graduating in 1967 and later attended Rutgers University where he received his Master of Science in Finance in 1976. Gene loved Philadelphia sports- the Phillies, Eagles, 76ers and the Flyers, but there was never a team he loved more than Villanova Basketball.

Gene accomplished many things in his lifetime, one of which was being the youngest Vice President of any branch in the history of First Pennsylvania Bank. One of the first people he met at "First Pennsy" was a lovely woman name Mary Louise Wilson. M.L. thought the world of Gene, so much so that she would later introduce him to her daughter, Trish, who he would marry a short time later and spend 50 amazing years of marriage together.

Gene and Trish relocated to Newtown, PA after many years in Rosemont and Narberth when Gene accepted a position with the New Jersey Economic Development Authority as the Managing Director of Finance. Gene would spend the remainder of his career with NJEDA until his retirement in 2002.

Gene was dedicated to his children beyond measure. His happiest times were spent with his family. Gene enjoyed spending hours sitting on the deck of Justice Drive watching sunsets with Trish and spending long hours on the beach at the water's edge in Ocean City and Avalon watching the kids play. Gene enjoyed many years coaching John and Mark in Tri-Township Baseball at the Grange, winning numerous championships along the way. Gene spent many weekends rising early with Mark to set up the nets for him to play with his St. Andrew Soccer team and he happily spent a week every fall in Boston watching John run cross-country. This annual trip would build lasting memories for the family. Gene and Trish were adamant Sarah be an independent and strong-willed woman. Gene taught Sarah to swing a hammer and use a circular saw at the young age of 10, when they spent a weekend installing hardwood floors to surprise Trish. He looked forward to hearing about Sarah's DIY home renovations, many of which he walked her through over the phone.

Gene and Trish were parents to many; there was always a seat at the table and a room available. Over the years many of their children's friends were welcomed into their home and their family; some stays were a few short months, and others were there for many years. Gene and Trish loved you all so very much, especially Yamile Perez, who was the longest resident of the Bukowski Boarding House.

In his later years, Gene developed a few new hobbies that brought him great joy; letting telemarketers know how horrendous they were and telling anyone and everyone how much he despised the current POTUS. You didn't have to ask; Gene was thrilled to tell anyone and everyone who would listen what a disgrace to our country Trump was.

Gene was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia W. Bukowski; his mother and father, Edward E. and Melanja J. Bukowski and his mother and father-in-law Mary Louise "M.L." and William "Buddy" Wilson and his sister-in-law, Saree M. Ippolito.

Gene is survived by his two sons, John and Mark, and his daughter Sarah Boisvert (Mason) and his grandson, Lukey Boisvert. Gene is also survived by his sister Elaine Bukowski, numerous cousins including Buddy Kasavage and Julia Eisenberg (Larry), his brothers-in-law Bill Wilson (Marti) and Rick Wilson (Cathy), and his many nieces and nephews and their families. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. Gene had a place in his heart for everyone he met.

A Celebration of Life will be held privately at a later date when Gene's family will gather to celebrate Gene's amazing life and share fond memories.
