Eugene E. Aichele, 81, of White Haven, passed away at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Hospital on Sunday, February 13, 2022 following a major heart attack. Special thanks to all at the hospital who worked so valiantly for over a week to reverse his condition.
Born in Hillside, NJ, on July 4, 1940, Gene was the son of the late Eugene R. and Eleanor E. Pflueger Aichele. He is survived by Barbara Aichele, his wife of 36 years; five loving grandchildren, one cherished great grandchild and a second due in April. In addition, there are three stepchildren and seven step grandchildren, all of whom will miss him very much.
In his earlier adulthood Gene was a toolmaker by trade and spent some years in the U. S Coast Guard. Before retiring he worked for the State of New Jersey as the waste-water treatment plant operator at Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital in Morris Plains, NJ. While he was there he was a member of Greystone Park Fire Department. He was also a member of the Cedar Knolls Fire Dept and First Aid Squad.
After moving to Golden Oaks Village, just outside of White Haven, he served as member of Kidder Twp. Fire Dept and White Haven Ambulance Company. Most recently he was a member of the White Haven Area Historical Society where he was currently their president.
Donations can be made in his memory to any medical research facility.
Private arrangements have been made with the Lehman Family Funeral Service, in White Haven.
