Dominick Ferro

Dominick (Dom) Ferro, 77, of Ashley, passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 12, 2026, at Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center while surrounded by his loving family.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on October 9, 1948, he was the son of the late Dominick Ferro, Sr. and Raphael Farino Ferro. Dom attended St. Leo’s Grade School and was a graduate of Hanover Area. He went on to work as an Operations Manager. 

Everyone knew Dom’s love of sports especially the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles. He was happiest watching a game and talking sports with family and friends. He also enjoyed playing softball, a round of golf, and yearly fantasy football drafts.  

While Dom proudly rooted for Philadelphia teams, his greatest team was his own family. Being a devoted husband, father, and “Pop” was the role he treasured above all else. He was everyone’s biggest fan, celebrating every milestone, standing beside them through challenges, always offering love and encouragement. In his eyes, no championship could ever compare to the family he built and loved so deeply.

One of Dom’s greatest joys was coaching baseball, especially having the opportunity to coach his beloved grandson, Zach. Their bond was one of a kind. His love for his granddaughter, Jenessa, was equally special. Dom had the privilege of coaching her in baseball for a season before her passion turned to soccer. From that moment on, he proudly traded the baseball diamond for the soccer field, becoming her biggest fan. Whether it was baseball or soccer, Dom rarely missed a game, cheering from the sidelines with pride and celebrating every accomplishment, big or small. Watching his grandchildren grow, compete, and follow their dreams brought him some of the greatest joy in his life. Together, they created memories that will be cherished forever.

He was a member of St. Leo the Great Church and former President of Ashley-Newtown Little League. He believed in giving back to the community. As proud Co-Founder of the Zachary A. Kollar Memorial Foundation, he was focused on ensuring the foundation’s tournament was a success. You could always count on his daily updates and shares on Facebook. 

Above all else, Dom’s greatest accomplishment was the family he built alongside the love of his life, Dorothy. They recently celebrated 57 wonderful years of marriage and created a home filled with love and laughter. His three daughters were the pride and joy of his life, and there was nothing he treasured more than spending time with them and his grandchildren. His love, guidance, and steady presence will remain in their hearts forever.

“Pop” is survived by his beloved wife, Dorothy Kremski Ferro; his daughters, Raphael Ferro of Hanover Township, Michele Polney and her husband, Jason, of Wilkes-Barre Township, and Jennifer Ferro of Ashley and her partner, Justin Kaszowicz; his cherished granddaughter, Jenessa Ferro; numerous nieces and nephews; and the beloved family fur babies, Bella and Nova.

In addition to his parents, Dom was preceded in death by his best friend/grandson, Zachary A. Kollar; his brother, Joe Ferro; and his sister, Angie Hummel.

Dom will be remembered for his generous heart, quick sense of humor, devotion to his family, and the kindness he showed to everyone he met. Whether he was coaching, supporting his community, cheering from the sidelines, or simply spending time with the people he loved most, he made a lasting impact on countless lives. His legacy will live on through the family he adored, the community he served, and the Zachary A. Kollar Memorial Foundation, which will continue to carry forward the love, compassion, and generosity that meant so much to him. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, July 18, 2026, at 9:30 a.m. from Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc., 689 Hazle Ave., Wilkes-Barre, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at St. Leo the Great Church, 33 Manhattan St., Ashley. Reverend Vincent Dang will officiate. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Township.

Friends are invited to join the family from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 17, 2026, and Saturday morning from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
