Christopher John Alford of White Haven passed away suddenly Tuesday, April 14, at home. He was the son of Tyra K. Alford and the father of Elijah Alford. Chris was born in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, on January 25, 1986, and graduated from Hazleton High School.
He loved nature and, each year, he and his father, Michael Stemple, planted a large vegetable and sunflower garden. Over the years Chris held various positions, including work at the White Haven Center and Jerry Fulks Nursery. He was a talented painter and did landscaping and construction work in White Haven and Lake Harmony. He also worked for Pocono White Water Rafting and spent this past winter working in snowmaking at Big Boulder Ski Area
Chris's hobbies included art and woodworking, collecting rocks and antiques, fishing, and hunting with his brother Michael and their hunting dogs. He enjoyed historical research, especially family history. Neighbors remember him as helpful and friendly—always willing to lend a hand.
He is survived by his mother, Tyra K. Alford, his son, Elijah Alford; Elijah's mother and former partner, Krystal Campbell: his brother, Michael Stemple, and his partner, Jackle Champl; his grandfather, Timothy P. Alford (Mary); grandmothers Anne J. Frey and Cynthia Alford Tiglio; uncles Todd Alford and Tim Alford; many cousins and numerous friends. Chris also leaves behind his faithful companion, Piney, and the Lehigh River, where he spent many hours walking and enjoying the outdoors. He is at peace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at 11:30 am in St. Patrick's Church, White Haven. Reverend Michael Kloton will officiate. Friends are invited to join the family at the church for a visitation from 10:30 am until time of Mass.
Services are under the direction of Lehman Family Funeral Services.
