Carolyn Becker Obituary

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mom, Carolyn Fay Becker (née Keiper). She was reunited with the love of her life, our dear dad, Frank on March 12, 2026.

Carolyn Fay was born in Wilkes-Barre, PA on March 21, 1943 to the late Harold M. and Mildred E. Keiper (née Blakeslee). She grew up in White Haven, graduating from White Haven High School in 1961. Her love of family and children began with the birth of her first niece, Cindy Lou, whom she helped raise while also waitressing at the local diner and teaching Sunday School at the White Haven United Methodist Church. Fay, as everyone in town knew her, soon met her one true love, Francis Anthony Becker. Frank grew up just across the river in East Side Boro and although he had recently enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, they both knew they would be together forever. Fay and Frank eloped, marrying at a small chapel in the Poconos on July 11, 1964. Shortly after their wedding, Fay accompanied Frank to Honolulu, where he was stationed to await his tour of duty in the Vietnam War. Even with his deployment looming, they cherished their newlywed time together on the beautiful island. When Frank shipped out, Fay returned home and went to work for the Dana Perfume Corporation in Mountain Top. After Frank's discharge from the USMC in 1968, they moved to Stroudsburg, PA to start their lives together, welcoming with joy their two daughters, Michele Lee and Suzette Marie.

Carolyn Fay was a devoted mom with an independent spirit. Professionally, she worked at Hughes Printing in East Stroudsburg until a career shift led her to a position as a Nurses' Aide at Pocono Hospital, where she subsequently acquired certification to become a Coronary Care Technician. In the mid-1980s, Frank and Fay opened their own business- Frank Becker Floor Covering, in East Stroudsburg. In addition to running the business with Frank, Fay managed the Men's Department at Hess's Department Store. Finding her way back to medicine, she concluded her professional career as a Room Leader in the Influenza Vaccination section of the Sanofi Pasteur Pharmaceutical Corporation in Swiftwater, PA.

Carolyn Fay remained true to her faith in God. She was an active member and Sunday School teacher at Stroudsburg United Methodist and continued her devotion at Mountainhome United Methodist Church after moving to Cresco. After retiring and returning to White Haven, her spirituality and faith remained the guiding forces of her daily life.

Long known for her kindness and generosity, Fay became an active lifetime member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in retirement. She supported the White Haven Marine Corps League as one of the "Ladies of the League" and, together with Frank, volunteered at the VA hospital in Wilkes-Barre. She was an avid reader, a jigsaw "puzzler," a lover of The Golden Girls, and by her own admission, a horrible "texter," but a fantastic
storyteller of her lifetime of memories.

Carolyn Fay’s love of children was one of her greatest attributes. It prompted her to be a Girl Scout Leader, a Summer Bible School teacher, and (much to her daughters' dismay) a wonderful parent chaperone for every school trip. She was the go-to "mom, mama, grandmom, nanny, nana, aunt, and babysitter" for many family members and friends. And although she leaves behind no grandchildren of her own: Sasha, Owen, and Spencer Desberg; Jordan Walker; and Conor, Casey, and Rylie Mark were always hers in her heart.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Mildred Keiper; her husband of 52 years, Francis Anthony Becker; and her sister, Marie Morrison.

She leaves behind her two daughters, Michele and Suzette Becker, both of White Haven; her dog, Archie; granddog, Stanlee and grandcats, Big Frank, Oliver, Emmy, Walter, and Mickey Magic. She also leaves behind her nieces, Cindy, Connie, and Cathy; two grandnephews, a grandniece and her husband; and numerous much-loved cousins and godchildren.

Carolyn Fay was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by family and friends, near and far. A semi-private graveside memorial is being planned for a warm summer day and will be announced by Lehman Funeral Home of White Haven.
