CATHERINE BALUTA

Catherine G. Baluta, 98, formerly of Mountain Top, died Saturday, January 2, 2021, in Gino Merli Veterans Center GMVC, Scranton.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late James and Grace Hibish Boyle and was a graduate of St. Leo's High School. Catherine served her country proudly in the United States Navy during World War II; was a florist prior to retirement and was a member of St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Michael Flynn in 2001 and several brothers.

She is survived by her husband, Gerald Baluta of GMVC; son, James Woodruff and his wife, Dorothy of Plymouth; Jill Menson and her husband, Steve of Jackson, NJ; three grandchildren, Denise, James J. and Erin; niece and nephew, Lisa Boyle; James Boyle and his wife, Betsy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 10:00 am from St. Jude's Church, Mountain Top.
