Burton E. Schafer, of Freeland, formerly of White Haven, died at home, July 11, 2022.
Born in White Haven, he was the son of the late Charles and Reba Barry Schafer and was a graduate of White Haven High School. Burton proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict, was the recipient of the Good Conduct and the National Defense Medals, and was a dedicated member of White Haven United Methodist Church. He was vice president of the First Eastern Bank, and also served his community as a member of the Retired Bankers Association, Top of the Poconos rotary club, Odd Fellows, Laurel Lodge, the Masons, and a little league coach prior to retirement. He enjoyed golfing, had a passion for classic cars, was an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, but mostly enjoyed spending time with family above all else.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen A. Bobby Schafer; second wife, Anges Horn and siblings, William, Marshall, Malcolm Schafer.
He is survived by his son, Darryl (Cheryl) Schafer of White Haven and their children, Kirstin, Kaitlin, Faith; son, Jason (Kimberly) Schafer of White Haven and their children, Richelle and Heather; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends are invited to join the family on Thursday, July 14th, 2022 from 5 to 7pm for viewing and from 10:30am on Friday morning until the time of service at the funeral home.
Funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 am, on Friday, July 15, 2022 from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 403 Berwick Street, White Haven.
Interment will follow in Laurel Cemetery with Military Honors. Close friends and family are invited to a Celebration of Life at Sand Springs Country Club, starting at 1:00pm.
