Barbara A. McGreevy Rittinger, of Hanover Township, passed away peacefully on December 12, 2025, at Third Avenue Health and Rehab.
Born in Wilkes-Barre on July 15, 1947, Barbara was the daughter of the late John and Carmella Altavilla McGreevy. She was a graduate of Hanover Area High School, Class of 1965, and went on to build a meaningful career as a manufacturer with Lockheed Martin, where she worked for 20 years. During her time there, Barbara played a role in assembling the Patriot missile, which was used during the Gulf War, work she took great pride in as a dedicated and hardworking employee.
Barbara was known for her outgoing and social nature, her strong work ethic, and her beautiful soul. She was an avid Washington Redskins fan and greatly enjoyed bowling. While living in Orlando, she was a member of a bowling league alongside her beloved husband, Daniel Rittinger, creating cherished memories together.
She is survived by her brothers, John “Jack” McGreevy and his wife, Mary Lou of Wilkes-Barre and Dan McGreevy of Hanover Township, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews who will fondly remember her warmth and spirit.
In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Rittinger, and her sisters, Janice Gribble and Carmella Thompson.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the compassionate staff of Third Avenue Health and Rehab, Serenity Care, and Serenity Hospice for the exceptional care and comfort they provided to Barbara.
In accordance with Barbara’s wishes, there will be no public services. The family will have a private day of remembrance to reflect the life of Barbara on Christmas Day at the home of her brother Jack.
Arrangements under the direction of the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. Wilkes-Barre.
