Obituary
Arlene L. Rakowski, 74, of Wilkes-Barre, formerly of Newtown section of Hanover Township, passed away on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, with family by her side.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Josephine Hodakowski Kandrac and was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School, Plains and Mercy Hospital, School of Nursing. Arlene worked for Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre and retired from Geisinger Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre and Plains Township. She enjoyed working in her yard, spending time with her husband, children and grandchildren and reading.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Eugene J. Rakowski in 2012; brother, Joseph J. Kandrac and son in law Brock Faatz.
Left to cherish her memory are son, Eugene (Karen) Rakowski Jr of Hudson; Donna Faatz of Hudson; granddaughter whom she reared, Keely (Geno Suda) Simonson of Newtown section of Hanover Township; Kaitlyn (John Karazia) Rakowski and Brandyn, Lynk and Kennedy Faatz; and sisters, Diane Cornell and Joan McDonald.
Funeral service will be conducted on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at 10:30 am from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo the Great Church, 33 Manhattan St. Ashley at 11:00 am. Entombment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery Mausoleum.
Visitation will be held from 9:30 am until time of service at the funeral home.
