THEODORE J. SZYDLOWSKI

Theodore J. “Ted” Szydlowski, 73, of Freeland, formerly of Ashley, died Sunday, January 20, 2019, while traveling in Colorado.

Born in Long Island City, NY and raised in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, he was the son of the late Charles and Catherine Magiera Szydlowski and was a graduate of Brooklyn High School.  Ted attended Kings College and served his country proudly in the United States Navy, during the Vietnam War and the Pennsylvania National Guard.  He was the recipient of the Vietnam Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal. Ted was employed by the United States Postal Service, retiring as postmaster of the White Haven post office and was an active member of the Rolling Thunder PA Chapter 3, a veterans’ support not-for-profit organization, where he served as past president and also served on several other offices.  He was a member of St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church, Ashley; the VFW of White Haven, the American Legion of Mountain Top and involved with many Veteran Associations and Benefits.

In addition to his parents, Ted was preceded in death by his wife, the former Ann Marie Lovenduski, granddaughter, Cassie Drozda; nephew, Scott Boegle and siblings, George, John, Frank, Hank Szydlowski and sister, Arlene Kunda.

He is survived by his daughters, Catherine Munster and her husband, Ron, Long Island, NY; Kimberly Grodis, Ashley; Tracey View and her husband, Leo, Ashley; six grandchildren, Jeff, Kristie, Michael, Eric, Lauren, Rachel; great granddaughters, Ava and Juliette; sister, Irene Bednar, Wilkes-Barre many nieces, nephews and friends.

Blessing service, with Military Honors, will be conducted on Saturday, January 26, 2019, at 10:00 am from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre. Internet will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Friends and family are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Friday, January 25, 2019, from 4 to 8 pm and on Saturday from 9:15 am until time of service.
