MARY ELLEN GAVINSKI Obituary

Mary Ellen Gavinski passed away peacefully Friday morning June 1, 2018 in Little Flower Manor Wilkes Barre where she resided for the last year.

Born in Wilkes Barre she was the daughter of Bernard and Mary Mullen O’Brien. She was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School and College Misericordia. After raising her family, Mary Ellen returned to her love of education, working at Crestwood High School for almost 20 years before retiring to enjoy her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Victor A. Gavinski Jr.; sons, Richard and Mark Gavinski; daughter, Kathleen Searfoss; granddaughter, Lisa Gavinski and brother, James O’Brien.

Mary Ellen is survived by her children, Victor Gavinski III and his wife Roxanne, White Haven; Brian Gavinski, Lebanon; Patrice Smith and her husband Bert, Mountaintop.

She was the most loving and caring grandmother to her grandchildren; Kelly, Casey, Lauren, Brian Jr., Jason, Nicole and Kaitlyn and several great grandchildren. She is also survived by siblings; Joan Campbell, Danville; Bernard O’Brien, NJ; and Beth Ann Williams, Pittston; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Thursday June 7, 2018 at 11:00 am at Saint Patrick’s Church, White Haven, with Reverend Michael Kloton officiating. Visitation will be at 10:00 am until time of Mass. Internment will be in St. Patrick’s Cemetery, White Haven.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
