James B. Mulcahy, 75, of the Newtown section of Hanover Township died Saturday, January 12, 2019 in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in Wilkes-Barre, May 31, 1943, he was the son of the late Nicholas and Julia Waitkunas Mulcahy and was a graduate of St. Leo's High School, Ashley. Prior to retiring, Jim worked at Techneglas as a forklift operator, at RCA in Mountaintop, and on the railroad in Allentown. He also served in the Army Reserves.
He enjoyed photography, hiking, fishing, hunting, playing the guitar and was also an avid reader.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Georgianne Fetzer Mulcahy; brother, Paul Mulcahy and brother Bernard Mulcahy.
He is survived by his daughter, Cynthia Brown of Swoyersville; son, Timothy Mulcahy and his wife, Lisa of Hanover Township; son, Joshua Mulcahy of Hanover Township; two grandsons, Nicholas and Michael Brown of Swoyersville; sister in law, Rosemary Mulcahy of Mountain Top; brother, Leonard Mulcahy and his wife, Maureen of Wyoming; Joseph Mulcahy and his wife Rosella of Minneapolis, MN; sister, Mary Schubert of Wheeling, WV; sister, Catherine Altavilla of Rumson, NJ and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 19, 2019, at 9:30 am from the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial and 10:00 am in St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Parish, 33 Manhattan Street, Ashley. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Hanover Twp.
Friends and relatives are invited to the funeral home for a visitation on Friday from 5-7 pm and on Saturday morning from 9:00 am until time of service.
