Helen M. Gavlick Ungvarsky, 96, of Hanover Twp., died Saturday, September 16, 2017 in Guardian Elder Care, Nanticoke.

Born January 26, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Mary Gavlick. Helen was a member of St. Leo's Holy Rosary Church, Ashley and worked as a packer for American Tobacco prior to retiring. She enjoyed playing bingo and watching Wheel of Fortune with her dogs, Milo and Tami.

Helen was preceded in death, in addition to her parents, by her husband, Joseph, sister Anne Thompson and brother Joseph Gavlick.

She is survived by her sons, Steven Gavlick and his wife, Jane, Hanover Twp., Thomas J. Unvarsky and his wife, Patricia, Wilkes-Barre; step daughter, Rose Marie Baker and her husband, Marvin, Hesperia, CA; grandchildren, Steve Gavlick Jr. Tracey Hall, Jason Gavlick, Thomas Unvarsky Jr. and Joseph Unvarsky; brothers, Andrew Gavlick, Bernard Gavlick, sister, Dolores Ruda, all of Ashley. Numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. 

Funeral service will be on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at 8:30 am, at the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre, with a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Leo's/Holy Rosary Church, 33 Manhattan St., Ashley with Rev. Vincent Dang officiating. Interment will follow in St. Marys Cemetery, Hanover Twp.

Friends may call Tuesday, September 19, 2017 from 5 to 8 pm and Wednesday morning, from 8:15 am until time of service.
