Charles E. Weaver Sr., of White Haven, died peacefully, Thursday, in the Wilkes-Barre General Hospital.
Born in East Side Borough, son of the late Herbert and Bessie Miller Weaver.
As a lifelong resident of the White Haven area and a graduate of White Haven High School he knew everyone, always had a friendly pat on the back and was always ready to lend a hand.
He spent 38 years as a rural delivery postal carrier but was most well known as the genial proprietor of Charlie Weaver's Restaurant. Charlie tended bar at Weaver’s, subjecting many a customer to his friendly teasing while his wife Janet did the legendary cooking. Many local young people got their first jobs at Weaver’s.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Charles E. Weaver Jr. and siblings, Margaret Nagy, Florence Balas; Pete Weaver, Harvey Weaver, Marilyn Weaver and Betty Hanna.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, L. Krewson Weaver; daughter, Cindy Weaver; daughter in law, Sheila Weaver; two grandchildren, Sarah and Charlie Weaver and many nieces and nephews.
A Memorial visitation will be held on Friday, March 16, 2018, from 4 to 7 pm at the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 403 Berwick St. White Haven.
