Sister Seraphima passed away in Wisconsin on November 29, 2017.

Born Anna Marie Lazor, she was the daughter of the late Mary and Michael Lazor, Nanticoke. After graduating high school, she immediately went to the Sisters of St. Basil the Great, Byzantine Greek Rite in Pittsburgh, PA. She earned a Bachelor’s degree in Theology from Fordham University before being professed in 1963 as Sister Mary Seraphima. She also earned a Bachelor’s degree in Education at Perdue and DePaul Universities, then began teaching 9th and 10th grades at St. Michael’s School in Northridge, California. After several years of teaching, she transitioned to the Sisters of Immaculate Heart of Mary in Boston, Massachusetts participating in charity work and faithful service to the Lord. Upon retirement, she moved to the Diocese of Milwaukee, joined the Oblates of St. Benedict to serve the Lord.

Sister Seraphima is survived by her sister, Margaret Lehman, niece and nephew Michele (Allen) Foust and Gerard Lehman, great niece and nephew, Julia and Joshua Foust and several cousins.

A Mass of Christian burial will take place Monday, December 4 at St. Jude Church, 420 South Mountain Blvd. Mountain Top at 12:30 PM. Interment will be at St. Michael’s Cemetery, Glen Lyon. Friends may call 12 Noon to time of service on Monday in the church.
