Myrtle G. Vogel, 98, passed into the presence of her Lord on November 23, 2017, from the Weatherwood Nursing Facility, in Weatherly, where she had been a resident since January of this year.
Born on Thanksgiving day in 1918, she also passed away on Thanksgiving Day. She was born on November 28, 1918, in White Haven, was the daughter of Paul and Edith (Kindred) Hosier and was the last remaining of their 12 children.
On January 1, 1978, she was married to John W. Vogel, who preceded her in death in 1990. Myrtle has been a faithful member of the Free Methodist Church for 98 years. She taught Sunday School for many years and served as Sunday School Superintendent, Junior Missionary Leader, Christian Youth Crusade Director and was involved in nearly every function of the church, for most of her life.
She has lived her life for God and invested in the lives of all of those around her. She was named “Woman of the Year” in 2008 by the Women's Mission Ministries International organization of the New York Conference of the Free Methodist Church. She has also received numerous awards fro her Community service and her many years as a volunteer “Grandparent” at the White Haven Center.
She has been a shining example in her love and faithful service to the Lord.
Myrtle is survived by nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be on Thursday, at 11:00 am at Mountain View Community Church, 5126 N. Lehigh Gorge Drive, White Haven with Pastor Brook Selby officiating.
Interment will follow in Laurel Cemetery, White Haven.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home and from 10 to 11 Thursday, at the church.
