JOHN McEVOY Obituary

John (Mack-O) McEvoy, 67, of Hanover Township, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, at the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center, Plains Township, on Sunday, January 28, 2018.

Born in Wilkes-Barre, January 19, 1951, he was the son of the late James and Margaret Tosh McEvoy. He served his country proudly in the United States Marines, during Vietnam, was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal and was a member of the VFW Post 609, Lee Park. He was a member of St. Aloysius Church (St. Robert Bellarmine Parish), was an avid fisherman, golfer and enjoyed hunting.

John LOVED the EAGLES and will be helping them Sunday!!!

He is proceeded in death in addition to his parents by brother James McEvoy, Jr. in 2016 and nephew John McEvoy.

Surviving are a brother William McEvoy, Bridgeport Conn; sisters Margret Kravitz, Hanover Twp.; Ruth Boston, Ashley and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be conducted on Friday, February 2, 2018, at 10:00 am at the Lehman Family Funeral Service, Inc. 689 Hazle Ave. Wilkes-Barre. Interment will follow in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Hanover Twp., with military honors.

Friends may visit on Thursday, February 1, 2018,  from 5 to 7 pm and on Friday from 9:00 am until time of service at the funeral home.

His family is grateful for the excellent care and kindness during his stay at the VA.

John and his family would also like to thank Cindy Tiza and Carlita France for their care for him, while he was home. John will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he has touched.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Johns favorite charity St Jude's Children s Hospital in his memory.
