We are proud members of the Funeral Ethics Organization. The Lehman Family Funeral Service is not affiliated with the Luzerne County Coroner's Office and never will be.
The Coroner's office lacks many things but mostly ETHICS. Luzerne County has, in many cases, Funeral Directors “doubling” as Coroners in, as what the Funeral Ethics Organization calls, an “INHERENT CONFLICT OF INTEREST.” The Funeral Ethics Organization FEO is an international organization comprised of funeral service providers, who mission is to encourage ethical dealings respect the feeling and emotions of the bereaved, provide respect for the deceased's body and refrain from taking economic advantage of consumers making funeral and memorial purchases.
The FEO has actually been in contact with the LUZERNE COUNTY Coroners Office, regarding this conflict of interest and their total disgust with the lack of ethics in the office, to no avail.
Jessica Koth, of the National Funeral Directors Association stated on Sept. 22, 2009, “even if it's not illegal, it certainly is an unfair/unethical practice.”
Sacramento County Charter, Article XVIII-Coroner-Conflict of Interest. No person shall be appointed to the office of Coroner, whether or not that office is consolidated with another public office, who is connected in any way, directly or indirectly, or related by blood or marriage, to any person, firm or corporation engaged in the mortuary business.
Because of the above, we offer a total of $5,000.00 reward for information, leading to the citing or conviction of a Luzerne County Coroner using his public position of trust for private gain.
